Dustin Brooks Shelnutt
Mr. Dustin Brooks Shelnutt, age 38, of Franklin passed away June 5, 2019.
Funeral services for Mr. Shelnutt will be conducted Thursday June 6, 2019 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Stutts Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Church of Christ Cemetery (Woodland, AL).
The family will accept guests at Stutts Funeral Home Thursday afternoon from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.

Dustin was born October 17, 1980 in Newnan to Troy Brooks Shelnutt and Paulette Wessinger Fricks. He was Pentecostal by faith and a graduate of Heard County High School (Class of 1999).
He was a big kid who loved cars. He had a large collection of classic Hot Wheels and also enjoyed attending car shows.
One of his favorite toy lines was Transformers, of which he had a number of nostalgic toys from the 80’s and 90’s. The background for his cell phone had a Transformer theme.
He briefly studied culinary arts, and then entered the work force as a short order cook. One of his specialties was blackened fish, for which he mixed his own recipe of spices. He especially liked to catch his own fish to prepare for a delicious meal.
He loved his family, and held a special place in his heart for his dog, “Pretty Girl”. He liked to spend time and share his food from the table with her.
Survivors include: his mother and step-father, Paulette Fricks (Lamar) of Carrollton; father, Brooks Shelnutt of Franklin; brother, Cory Paul Shelnutt of Franklin; niece, Hollis Hope Shelnutt; nephew, Troy Shelnutt; step-sister, Kristy Prince (Allen) of Carrollton; two step-brothers: Tom Fricks (Tina) of Temple and Jeff Fricks (Peggy) of Marietta; and a number of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Hope Shelnutt.
