Mr. Holland was born August 27, 1922 in Edmonds, Washington to the late Will Jackson Holland, Sr. and Beulah Gray Holland. At an early age his family moved to Puente, CA, where he graduated from high school.
He served his country honorably in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. After more than 20 years of active service he retired in 1966 with the rank of Master Sergeant. His career in the Army allowed him to travel to many places, including Germany, Taiwan, Iran, Japan, and Korea, where he was stationed for a six month tour.
While serving in the Army he met the love of his life, Mrs. Ana Pope Holland. They were married 44 wonderful years until her death February 9, 2003.
His job in the Army was in the logistics department, which served him well in future employment. He worked for several years as a dispatcher for a trucking company.
One of his greatest passions was golf. He played it when he had free time, and his travels gave him the opportunity to play golf courses around the world. He also loved to watch Atlanta Braves Baseball.
He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, a devout Christian, and read his Bible daily. He especially enjoyed listening to Rev. David Jeremiah and read many of his books.
Survivors include: two nieces: Dale Jean of Acworth and Marla Mize of Loganville; two nephews: Donald Kirkland (Paulette) of Callahan, FL and Ronald Harrison (Cathy) of Greensboro, GA; and a number of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
