Mrs. Parrott was born January 11, 1946 in Atlanta to the late John Roy Smith and Zuma Exey Weatherby Smith. She was a Baptist by faith and liked to listen to gospel music.
She was a beautician by trade and had her own shop in Fayette County (Hair Salon 85) for many years. One of her favorite service projects was serving local nursing homes in her area. She attended special events where she styled and cut the residents’ hair for no charge.
She adored her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and liked to have the family along with her.
She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for her dog, “Buzzy.”
Survivors include: one daughter, Tammy Slaton of Sharpsburg; one son, Tim Parrott (Lisa) of Tybee Island; five grandchildren – including one special grandson, James Dean Parrott; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Sylvia Houston (Donny) of Loganville and Sherrie Robinson (Mike) of Peachtree City; one brother, Kenneth R. Smith (Elizabeth Ann) of Senoia; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Dean Parrott.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Bank of the Ozarks in the name of Joyce E. Parrott.
