Mr. Red was born April 21, 1971 in Troup County to William Gary Red and the late Patricia Hand Red. He was a Christian by faith.
After graduating from high school he took classes toward becoming a law enforcement officer. After becoming POST certified he worked for the Heard County Sheriff’s Office, the Franklin City Police Department, and the Hogansville City Police Department. He loved his job and took pride in doing the best job he could for his fellow citizens. After leaving law enforcement he began working for Georgia Container as a truck driver.
He was taking classes to become certified as an archery coach for the Heard County 4-H Clubs. He loved to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed being outdoors.
He owned a Harley Davidson motorcycle and rode it often. He loved to take trips to the mountains and the beach with his family.
At home, he liked to cook. At times he was lovingly referred to as “Chef Michael” for his skills in the kitchen.
He enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. However, nothing gave him more joy than to watch his children participate in school sports and activities.
Survivors include: his wife, Danica Red; his father, Gary Red; one daughter, Makayla Red; one son, Evan Red; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: William and Mary Ruth Red, and Will and Inez Hand.
