Dear Carol; I am saddened upon hearing the news of Eddie's passing. I hope you can find peace in your heart and in your lifetime memories of your life together. Meg Glantz
Dear Carol: I’ve been a very close friend of your cousin, Danelle, for over 45 years and have heard wonderful things about Eddie for years. I’m sorry that I didn’t get the chance to meet you back when I lived in Coweta County and you all were meeting at the Cracker Barrel for holiday meals. I’ve heard so many good things about Eddie I feel as though I knew him personally. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you and the rest of your family and friends. You are in my thoughts. Tanner Hospice Care staff would like to offer our condolences to you during this difficult time. We appreciate you trusting your loved one in our care.
Eddie Maddox was one of the sweetest, kindest persons God ever put on this earth. His faith was deep and very important to him and sustained him through some tough times as his health declined. He was immensely grateful to his wife, Carol, who was constantly at his side. He was passionate about veterans especially those who served in the 736th Tank Battalion with his Dad. He spent countless hours compiling data, documents, and photos chronicling the odyssey of this tank battalion from stateside desert training to being the closest armored unit to Berlin at the war’s end. He authored and co-authored several books and a quarterly newsletter for the 736th Tank Battalion Association. He was the conduit for all things “736th” and was affectionately known as “the glue that held us together”. We may console ourselves that he was warmly welcomed by God and the fallen veterans he was so dedicated to preserving their memory. Godspeed, brother Eddie and we will meet again.
