Mrs. Nutt was born September 25, 1920 in Heard County to the late Henry William Shelnutt and Lela Ann Shelnutt.
She was the oldest living member of Centralhatchee First Baptist Church. She joined the church in 1935 and was one of the longest serving members in the church’s history.
She was well known for her remarkable memory, and could recall events that happened many years ago with great clarity even into her late age.
She enjoyed visiting with old people in the community who needed companionship. She was always willing to help anyone in need. After she became unable to go visiting, she spent countless hours on the phone. She always checked on her friends and family to see how they were doing.
She liked to spend time in the garden. She had a green thumb, and it was said that she could root any plant and make it grow.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law: Dianne Johnson (Floyd) of Franklin; one son and daughter-in-law: Jerry R. Nutt (Jo Ann) of Franklin; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Clestelle Meeks of Buford and Annie Rene Zeamer of Franklin; and a number of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marvin (R. M.) Nutt, Jr.
